AROTIN & SERGHEI
AROTIN & SERGHEI create a universe of color and light, in constant splitting, superimposition, fusion and linked to its transformation processes. Concepts of philosophy and science are taken up and condensed into compositions of images and sounds. The fundamental questioning of “truth possibilities” (Ludwig Wittgenstein: Tractatus Logico Philosophicus 4.3) allowed AROTIN & SERGHEI to create a multitude of artworks, both analogue and digital unique pieces of pictures, paintings, drawings and large-scale installations.
AROTIN & SERGHEI are independent artists, producers and curators. Working together as an artist duo they realize their creations in cooperation with public and private institutions, festivals, museums, galleries and collectors. One of their main works, Infinite Screen, was made as a commission by La Biennale di Venezia and Klangforum Wien (2013/15). The art installation was further developed for the Ars Electronica Festivals (2014 to 2016) , for the Deep Space 8K media collection (White Point, 2015) and presented at Fondation Beyeler, Basel as a commission for the exhibition Kandinsky, Marc – Der blaue Reiter (White Point / Prometheus, 2016). In cooperation with Artcurial, Museum in Progress and Ars Electronica, the artists presented their project Infinite Screen as part of Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien’s 125-years anniversary art projects, as a 1,200 sq. meter long term installation during one month on the Museum’s main façade, on Vienna’s large public square Maria-Theresien-Platz: a composition of visual and sound projections in endless development. (Infinite Screen / The Babel Tower, 2016).
AROTIN & SERGHEI refer in their art and research projects to fundamental questions and innovations of free thinkers, philosophers and artists of different epochs, from mythology, prehistory and antiquity, through the Renaissance and Modernism, to metaphysics, quantum physics, modern-day science and futurology.
