As we leave the 20th century behind and rush toward the future on the wings of rapid scientific progress, the basic structure of the world is re-emerging. What we perceive as “reality” is being re-ordered in a fundamentally new way where, according to quantum physics, matter can both exist and not exist simultaneously. Plato’s Allegory of the Cave describes people shackled together in a cave staring at the shadows on the wall and believing it to be their only reality. The human race now stands at a crossroads in that cave; on the one hand, shackled by our ignorance and age-old assumptions, and on the other, embracing the advances of our newfound technological age.

Although our human senses limit our ability to understand our true reality, we still have to try. This is where science can intervene to help us by allowing us to see a brighter, more colorful picture of our world by providing tools that can help us find a greater truth. Scientific experiments, formulas, calculations, and debates are no deferent than a musician’s instrument, or an artist’s pen; they all help us to see the world in a fundamentally dierent way.

As science seeks to better our understanding of the world, music and art allow us to express how our rapidly evolving reality aects us as humans. This is the mission of M.A.R.S.: To explore this new vision by combining science and technology with the expression of music and art.

Music & Arts ReSound (M.A.R.S.) is a festival based on interdisciplinary cooperation between different forms of contemporary music, applied arts, philosophy, contemporary science and technology, with the target of creating platforms for internationally established musicians and artists of all kinds to promote their work and open new perspectives on seeing music through cross-artistic pairings. These carefully curated and hand-picked events expand musical imagination by blurring the borders between music and other applied arts. Artists involved will choose a concept and theme that will govern their collaborative process, and foster a wider array of interests for audiences than those of a usual contemporary music festival. Visual and performance arts, film, fashion and dance bring an understanding and conceptualization of music to a higher level of awareness for both the performers and the audience. The festival provide the necessary infrastructure for creating and fostering such collaborative platforms, and will do so in all major cities around the globe.

Nowadays, an ordinary mystery that everyone asks each other is, “What do you think the future will be like?” – Festival M.A.R.S. is our answer.
